The job

Motor carriers must keep liability insurance on file with the federal regulator to keep their operating authority. Agents who write commercial trucking insurance need to find carriers when coverage is being set up or is at risk.

Revocation pending

When an insurance filing is cancelled and no replacement is filed, the regulator starts the process of revoking the carrier's authority. During that window the carrier still shows active authority, with a revocation pending. Those carriers often need a new policy quickly.

The Revocation Pending feed lists carriers in exactly that state, with the latest insurance company and effective date where available, fleet size, owner name as registered and contact details. See our guide What "revocation pending" means.

New authorities

A newly granted carrier has just had to file insurance to activate its authority, and renewals and fleet changes follow. The New Authority Feed shows insurance on file compared with the required minimum on every row.

Useful filters

• state for the states where you are licensed
• trucks_min and trucks_max for the fleet sizes you write
• has_cell=true to get carriers that registered a cell phone number (most US numbers cannot be classified as mobile or landline, so phone_type is usually either; treat numbers as possibly mobile)
